I'm Allison from Stuckey in Second. I teach second grade in Indiana. I'm so excited to be part of this collaborative blog and today I'm going to share a recent persuasive writing unit that we worked on in my classroom. It was my first time teaching it and it turned out to be a lot of fun for the kids.

Higgins and 3rd grade teacher Mrs. The Italian students are children from American or English families which are residing in Italy, or students that are studying English. Through this project, students are learning multi disciplinary lessons. This ongoing activity reinforces letter writing skills, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure, as well as map skills in a fun and interesting way.

They are also developing an increased awareness of societies and cultures from around the world. As Temple Hill Academy students read their letters, they had great discussions with their classmates comparing and contrasting the life of a student in each country.

They were pleasantly surprised that the students in Italy had similar interests as themselves in food, music, TV shows, fashion, and games. They were a bit surprised that students in Italy are in school on Saturdays for half a day.

They were in awe that cursive or script writing begins at a very young age in the Italian curriculum. They were also greatly inspired when they learned that their peers in Italy study up to two different foreign languages.
